The answers to the questions you didn't know you had

What is this wonderful sport called Ultimate?

Ultimate is a fast paced sport that resembles many traditional sports, such as soccer and football in its athletic requirements; players are constantly sprinting, jumping, turning quickly and throwing throughout the game. Ultimate is played on a field similar to that of football. There are fourteen players on the field, seven on each team. The object of the game is to catch the disc in the opponent's end zone.  Once a player gains possession of the disc, she must immediately stop running. After establishing a pivot foot, she will look to advance the disc upfield by throwing to another player on her team. If the throw is not completed, the opposing team gains possession of the disc and is now on offense. This is called a turnover. Other ways turnovers occur is when a pass is intercepted, the disc is dropped, or a player is caught holding the disc for more than ten seconds. Ultimate is governed by the Spirit of the Game where sportsmanship, integrity, and fair-play are upheld by the players rather than referees.

Can I join even if I've never played before?

Absolutely! Over a third of the team didn't start playing until college! Come to practice and we will teach you the fundamentals and rules of Ultimate. Do not let a lack of experience deter you from joining us! Our players come from a variety of athletic backgrounds including but not limited to soccer, cross-country, track, lacrosse, swimming, basketball, and softball. If you are looking for a fun way to stay active, enjoy being on a team, and possess a hard work ethic then you've come to the right place!

What are the eligibility requirements for joining the team?

All players must be "degree-seeking" part or full time undergraduate or graduate students at the University of Pittsburgh.
